1. St Louis BBQ Sauce

Ingredients
2 cups ketchup
120ml water
80ml water
80ml apple cider vinegar
80 ml brown sugar
30 ml yellow mustard
1 tbsp onion powder
1 tbsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp cayenne
1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Heat saucepan over a low heat
  2. Mix the ingredients together in the saucepan. Stir.
  3. Leave for 20 minutes.
  4. Remove the saucepan from heat and leave the sauce to cool for 30 minutes.
  5. Leave to sit for a day (or use immediately after cooking if needed).

2. Memphis BBQ Sauce

Ingredients

1 cup Ketchup
120 ml apple cider vinegar
120 ml water
60 ml pureed onion
30ml minced garlic
30ml butter
2 tbsp molasses
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tablespoons tbsp prepared mustard
1/2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tbsp paprika
1/2 tbsp paprika
1/2 tbsp mild chilli powder
2 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp dried thyme
1/2 tsp

Instructions

  1. To start, heat a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Next, add the butter, onion and sauté for 3 minutes and stir.
  3. Add garlic and cook for 20 seconds.
  4. Add the rest of the ingredients and turn down the heat. Leave to simmer for 15 minutes and stir occasionally.
  5. Remove from heat and leave to stand for 20 minutes before use.

3. Kansas BBQ

Ingredients

300 ml ketchup
240 ml water
80 ml cider vinegar
60 ml dark brown sugar
2 tbsp molasses
1 tbsp onion powder
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp black pepper
1 tsp celery salt
1 tsp appspice
1 tsp cayenne

Instructions

  1. Place a saucepan over medium heat and put all ingredients in.
  2. Stir for 5 minutes then reduce the heat to low and leave to stand for 20 minutes. Stir occasionally until the sauce turns thick.
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat and leave to cool for 10-15 minutes.

4. Texas BBQ Sauce

240 ml water
240 ml ketchup
120ml cider vinegar
60ml butter minced onion
3 celery sticks, chopped
3 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
2 tbsp spicy mustard
2 tbsp /30 mL honey
2 minced garlic cloves
1 beef bullion cube
1 tbsp Paprika
2 tsp chili powder
salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat a medium saucepan and add butter. Wait for the butter to melt then add the celery and onion.
  2. Cook for 5 minutes then add garlic. Cook for 20 seconds.
  3. Next, add the 240ml of water and the beef cube. Stir until fully dissolved.
  4. Turn the heat to low, add the remaining ingedients and leave to simmer for 15 minutes.
  5. Remove saucepan from heatsource and leave to stand for 15 minutes.
  6. Tip the sauce into a blender and blend for 20 seconds.

5. Southern Barbecue Sauce

Ingredients

1 1/2 cup of ketchup
6 tbsp cider vinegar
1/2 cup water
3 tbsp vegetable oil
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp
Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp garlic (minced)
1 bay leaf
1/4 tsp Tabasco sauce
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1 lemon (juiced)

Instructions

  1. Add vegetable oil to a saucepan and cook on medium heat.
  2. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  3. Add the rest of the ingredients (apart from the butter) and leave to simmer for 10 minutes. Stir frequently.
  4. Remove saucepan from the heat and stir with butter.
  5. Once butter has melted leave to stand for 15 minutes.

6. Chinese Barbecue Sauce

Ingredients

120 ml sherry
160 ml hoisin sauce
160 ml soy sauce
120 mL sugar
4 minced garlic cloves
2 tsp black bean paste
1 1/2 tsp chinese five spice powder
1 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a saucepan and heat on a medium for 10 minutes.
  2. Once the sauce thickens leave for 5 minutes.
  3. Stir lightly after 5 minutes and leave to stand for another 5 minutes before using.

7. Cola Barbecue Sauce

Ingredients

475 ml Coca-Cola
475 ml ketchup
1/2 finely chopped onion
60 ml white vinegar
60 ml brown sugar
1/2 tsp mild chili powder
1.2 tsp salt (use less if preferred)
1/2 tsp black pepper

  1. Pour all ingredients into a saucepan on a high simmer.
  2. Reduce heat to low and cook for 12 minutes. Stir occasionally.
  3. When the sauce starts to thicken, remove the saucepan from the stove and leave to stand for 10 minutes.

8. Classic BBQ Sauce

240ml ketchup
240 ml water
1 onion
120 ml cider vinegar
3 minced garlic cloves
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1/2 lemon (juice and zest)
60 ml sugar
2 tsp 10 mK salt
1 tsp cayenne

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan heat oil over medium heat. Add onion, garlic and ginger. Saute until the onion is translucent.
  2. Stir in ketchup, water, vinegar, lemon juice and zest, sugar, salt and cayenne. Reduce heat to a low simmer and continue cooking for 25 minutes.

9. Honey and Bourbon Barbecue Sauce

Ingredients

2 cups honey
1 6 ounce can tomato paste
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
1/3 cup jerk seasoning
2 ounces bourbon
1 tbsp Dijon mustard
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp cayenne pepper
1/4 tsp Tabasco

  1. Place all ingredients in a medium sized bowl.
  2. Leave to stand for 1 hour.

Ingredients

2 240 ml cans of tomato sauce
1 240 ml can of green chiles
1/2 onion, chopped
120 mL brown sugar
60 ml dark rum
2 tbsp vinegar
2 minced garlic cloves
1 tbsp molasses
1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp 15 mL paprika

Instructions

  1. Place a medium saucepan on medium heat and pour olive oil into the base.
  2. Add onion and garlic and sauté.
  3. Add the other ingredients to the saucepan (Except the rum). Mix together.
  4. Heat until ingredients start to boil then remove from heat source and leave to stand.
  5. Add the rum and stir until fully absorbed.
  6. Once the temperature decreases pour the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.
