Benefits of Gas Barbecues
- Quick and Easy to Start – Gas BBQs are east to set up. Just turn on the gas and push a button.
- Temperature Control – simply turn the knobs up or down to regulate the flow of gas to allow for optimum cooking conditions.
- Different Numbers of Burners – depending on the number of people you are catering for, you can have more of less independent burners.
- Additional Features – Side Burners for sauces, side tables and rotisseries make gas bbqs incredibly versatile
- Wood smoking – no longer the reserve of charcoal barbecues, smoker boxes make wood smoking easy
- Easy Cleaning – no ashes to deal with. Drip trays collect the mess and for the cooking area just turn on the heat to burn off any juices and use a wire brush.

Downside of Gas Barbecues

- Natural BBQ Flavour – The flavour of food cooked on a charcoal bbq is really delicious!
- Initial Cost – Charcoal BBQs can be very cheap to buy (depending on the model/brand)
Downside of Charcoal Barbecues
- Hard to start – it take quite a bit of effort to get charcoal bbqs started
- Slow heat – charcoal bbqs take 30-40 minutes he heat up so they are not ideal for an impromptu party.
- Timing – cooking must be done when the coals are at their hottest otherwise you need to start all over again.
- Heat Control – it is not possible to keep a consistent temperature or control the heat.
- Fuel costs – can be expensive to run through the bbq season
- Hard to clean – hot ash can be difficult to clean. You must clean the grate, brush the ashes and scrub burnt on food.
